HOWARD, WI (WTAQ-WLUK)– Gas prices have hit below the four dollar mark in the Green Bay area.
According to GasBuddy, a Kwik Trip in Howard is selling gas for $3.76 a gallon.
GasBuddy’s Head of Petroleum Analysis Patrick De Haan says the $3.76 we saw in Howard is not a bad price right now.
“It’s certainly the lowest in the area, it’s the second lowest price in the entire state. The lowest price is $3.74 at a Kwik trip in Sun Prairie just outside Madison, so not a bad price at all,” says De Haan.
De Haan says the lowest he’s seen in the country is around $3.39 a gallon in parts of Texas.
According to the GasBuddy’s Gas Price Map in Green Bay the prices for a gallon of gas are ranging from $3.76 all the way to $4.29. In Appleton area prices are hovering right above and below the 4 dollar mark.
When asked how motorists felt about the lower prices, Claire Davis was excited.
“Fantastic, I cannot believe it has finally gone down. It makes just traveling and doing things with the kids a lot easier,” says Davis.
Davis also says she is able to leave the house more now.
“We don’t have to stay home all the time and we can kind of travel and see family,” says Davis.
Motorist Victor Murphy says he also plans on traveling more.
“I think it makes a big difference if you are considering what your options are, when it gets a little lower, I think you’re leaning towards doing that more, and it’s getting lower but we still want to see if we can get it back to where it was,” says Murphy.
De Haan says prices could keep decreasing, but the economy makes it hard to predict.
“If we get better than expected economic data, that could cause the low prices to go up in hopes that the economy won’t enter a recession,” says De Haan.
De Haan also says hurricane season could also increase prices.
