SHIOCTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Evacuated residents in the flooded village of Shiocton will be able to return to their homes Thursday, officials say.
This comes more than a week after residents were ordered to leave their homes as the waters of the Wolf River rose to record levels.
Village leaders met Tuesday and announced the next steps for residents re-entering their homes.
The village said damage assessments will be done by trained people on Wednesday who will inspect the outside of the home only.
Romy’s will be open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday or Friday for additional information and resources. The Black Creek fire department will have free supplies Thursday and Friday from noon to 7 p.m.
Residents can also call the Clerk’s Office to get on the list to get help from volunteers.
Saturday will be clean up day where volunteers will be available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Hortonville Lions & Wolf River Community Bank will also have food at the River Rail parking lot.
We Energies says it is currently in the process of reconnecting natural gas to disconnected customers.
