David Mairena-Garcia (Brown Co. Jail)
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Federal immigration officials have placed a detainer hold on David Mairena-Garcia, the suspect in a Monday attack which hospitalized two people, jail records show.
Mairena-Garcia was booked into the jail Monday on multiple requested charges, including two count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide for the attack with an ‘edged weapon’ on the city’s east side.
Formal charges have not been filed. Mairena-Garcia could appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
An “ICE HOLD” was placed on Mairena-Garcia, jail records show. Additional information about his immigration status was not available.
Around 5:15 a.m. Monday, police were called to the 900 block of Edgewood Drive for a weapons incident.
When officers arrived, they rendered first aid to two victims — a 23-year-old Green Bay man and a 26-year-old Green Bay woman. Both victims sustained cuts in the attack and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police learned the suspect, a 29-year-old Green Bay-area man who was known to the victims, had fled the scene. He was detained around 8:35 a.m. during a traffic stop and brought to the Green Bay Police Department for questioning, then later arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail.
