KEWAUNEE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Appleton man died after the boat he was driving crashed into the break wall north of the Kewaunee Lighthouse Pier.
Police say it happened just after 4:30 a.m. Monday.
An 18-foot fishing boat, driven by an 81-year-old Appleton man, was traveling out from Kewaunee harbor in a northernly direction, when it struck the south side of the north break wall.
The driver of the boat sustained fatal injuries. His body was recovered from the water by the U.S. Coast Guard and he was pronounced deceased on scene.
A passenger on the boat, a 68-year-old Appleton man, was taken to land to be evaluated for minor injuries. He was treated and released on scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
