OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A popular holiday installation in Northeast Wisconsin is settling into its new home for the season.
Oshkosh Celebration of Lights is kicking off its 22nd season on the EAA grounds because of unexpected excavation work being done at Menominee Park.
The course on the EAA grounds is almost two miles long and features approximately one million lights.
President of Oshkosh Celebration of Lights, Norm Reichenberger, says there a few new things that were built for the new location, including a brand new animated display.
“Pretty excited about having it out here because it is all new and we like the route that’s out here and EAA was gracious enough to let us use their grounds because where we used to have it in the park, they found some artifacts and things down there doing some roadwork and archaeologists shut the project down until next summer so if it wasn’t for EAA, I don’t think we’d have a light show this year so we thank them for allowing us to come out here and do this,” Reichenberger said.
The Oshkosh Celebration of Lights opens Friday at 5 p.m. and will be open every day through New Year’s Eve.

Depending on how the season goes, Reichenberger says the EAA grounds could become the permanent home for the event.
