Matt Z
Just call me Z. When you listen to The Morning News with Matt & Rob you will experience many things and boredom is not one of them. Who wants boring radio????
Here are some facts you should know about me:
I’m a big fan of hiking. I am currently in the process of hiking every mile of the Ice Age Trail. I also am a high pointer. What’s that? A high pointer is a hiker who aims to reach the highest natural elevation point in each state. Will I reach them all? No, but I’m halfway there and counting!
I’m a Milwaukee Brewers fan to my core. Baseball is my first sports love. I’m a proud alum of UWGB, class of 2002, and my love of Phoenix basketball is borderline obsessive. The Kress is my home away from home from November to March. I’m a New England Patriots fan and have been since the age of 7, deal with it people! A bandwagon is not something I’ve ever been on.
I’m up for trying any type of food at least once. My most unusual experience was eating horse when I was in Japan. Did I mention it was raw? I should also tell you it was delicious! I also love cooking and it’s a passion of mine. Craft cocktails and craft beer, please and thank you.

Rob Sussman
I’m Rob and the only thing I know how to do well is wax philosophical in front of a microphone. I have known this was my destiny once my childhood dreams of becoming a military pilot were scrapped because I’m legally blind without my glasses, and apparently they’ll only accept genetic freaks with pure 20/20 uncorrected vision for that. That’s fine–I didn’t want to bomb Iran anyway.
While I’m a Wisconsin transplant, I am as Midwest as can be. I grew up hopping between the big town of Cleveland, Ohio and the small town of Trenton, Illinois (about 45 minutes outside of St. Louis). While my sports loyalties lie with Cleveland, my grandma was a Packers fan and, as a Browns fan who never saw his team in the playoffs, I adopted the Packers as my NFC team as a teenager.
My laser-focused journey towards talking into a microphone for a living has brought me to places and things I could never have imagined. I graduated from Illinois State University and actually started out as a rock DJ on a station in Bloomington, Illinois. I spent much of my career as a radio news anchor and reporter, covering massive EF-5 tornadoes in Southern Illinois and the 2016 presidential primary races in Iowa. I spent nearly two years on the east coast hosting a talk show in Delaware before dipping back into the news game back in 2019 here at WTAQ until 2022, when I joined the morning show full-time and started getting up early to get under Matt Z’s skin by bringing up 3rd century BC historical anecdotes when all we were doing was talking about baseball.
