GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It’s one more option for you to find a test.
“We are committed to serving our communities, serving our patients and as long as the need is there we’re going to continue to ramp up,” said CVS Regional Director Sarita Saadeharfouch.
CVS at 930 Main street in Green Bay is one of 14 in the state providing drive thru COVID-19 testing.
“We’re looking at underserved communities, we’re looking at communities where government affairs have specific requests for COVID incidents, or underserved populations,” said Saadeharfouch. “We’re looking at the cities where there’s major need. Everywhere is an option.”
Earlier this week Alex Azar, the U.S. Secretary of Heath and Human Services, discussed testing at big retail pharmacy stores.
“68% of those testing sites are in socially underserved areas as we continue to try and reach out to our healthcare underserved populations to make sure we’re getting them into the healthcare system and helping to get them tested,” said Azar.
“Major criteria we looked at was COVID incidents first,” said Saadeharfouch. “Where’s the prevalence of most of the cases? That means that’s where the need is because of exposure.”
One difference with CVS’s drive thru testing, you administer the test yourself while a professional looks on.
“Very detailed instructions and in general our patients have been fine,” said Saadeharfouch. “There’s been some patients that spill the reagent or don’t swab necessarily well. We help them through and they can repeat it as well/ We’ll take care of our patients and make sure they leave with the right test done.”
CVS’s COVID-19 test is covered by insurance. If you are uninsured the cost of the test will be covered by federal funding.
They say as of Friday 1,400 of its locations across the country are offering COVID-19 testing and test results are returned within 5 days.
