(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College battled UW-Stevens Point in a non-conference game at Van Alstine field, holding a lead going into the eighth inning until the Pointers stormed back with eight unanswered runs to fall 11-4.
The Green Knights (15-14) used a heavy rotation in the bullpen, with 13 pitchers finding action in the final non-conference game of the season.
Matt Schuch (pictured) gave the Green Knights a perfect start in the first inning, hitting a solo home run on one of the first pitches of the game to give St. Norbert a 1-0 lead. The Pointers scored three runs in the third to take their first lead of the day, but a 2 RBI homer from Will DeBruin tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the third.
An Ethan Volz single scored Mark Othmer in the seventh as St. Norbert took its first advantage since the beginning of the game, but eight runs in the eighth from Stevens Point put the game out of reach.
Othmer went 3-for-4 from the plate while Volz went 2-for-4.
Cian Burke took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits in the seventh inning.
