APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Appleton Fire Department is rolling out its new Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to boost emergency care.
The department’s recent certification by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as a 911 Non-Transporting Paramedic Provider will create a more integrated response with Gold Cross Ambulance, the city’s transporting EMS provider.
While ambulance transport will continue to be handled by Gold Cross Ambulance, Appleton Firefighter paramedics can now initiate more advanced care within minutes of arrival.
“This is a significant step forward in our mission to serve the people of Appleton,” said Fire Chief Jeremy Hansen. “Upgrading to ALS service ensures that when seconds count, our crews can deliver critical interventions immediately, before a transporting ambulance arrives.”
