BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A former Gresham teacher is headed to trial for allegedly commiting a variety of crimes against children.
A judge found probable cause at a preliminary hearing Monday for Timothy Schmidt to proceed to trial on 24 felony charges, including Sexual Assault of a Student by School Staff, Child Enticement with Sexual Contact, Causing a Child to View Sexual Activity, Exposing a Child to Harmful Materials, Child Sexual Exploitation, and Possessing Child Pornography.
The 69-year-old reportedly had inappropriate contact with a teenage girl on multiple occasions.
Investigators say child pornography was found on multiple of Schmidt’s electronic devices.
Schmidt resigned from his teaching position when school and police officials started investigating the matter.
An arriagnment is set for May 8.
