GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The recent warm-up have area trails and sidewalks buzzing with more walkers and bikers in Northeast Wisconsin.
Green Bay Police say when driving, it’s important to keep your eye on crosswalks and slow down for pedestrians.
“Any officer that’s on patrol is constantly monitoring all traffic to make sure everyone is driving safe, everyone is crossing through the crosswalk in an appropriate manner,” said Captain Kevin Warych.
Warych says their officers will be attending a special training on May 24th that focuses on pedestrian and bicycle safety.
“It’s going to teach officers and make them aware of all the pertinent laws pertaining to pedestrian and bicycles on the roadway.”
The 2 training sessions, hosted by the Green Bay Police Department, is in conjunction with the Share and Be Aware campaign with the Wisconsin Bicycle Federation and the Wisconsin DOT Bureau of Transportation Safety.
