The Milwaukee Brewers opened up a challenging road trip with a 3-2, 10 inning loss to the surging San Diego Padres. Milwaukee struck first when Tyrone Taylor delivered a two run double in the second inning. Hunter Renfro came all the way around from first to score the second run but was done for the night when he reportedly suffered a hamstring injury. Adrian House kept the Padres down, working six innings, allowing just three hits and one run. San Diego evened the score in the 7th and in the 10th, Jose Azocar delivered a two out, walk off RBI single off reliever Miguel Sanchez. He was just called up from the minors with injuries in the bullpen and Josh Hader unavailable because of a family medical issue.
The Brewers squandered two great scoring changes. They had the bases loaded with nobody out in the 4th inning but Kolton Wong’s hard grounder up the middle was gobbled up to end the threat. In the top of the 10th, Milwaukee also had the bases full but came away empty.
The Padres improve to 28-14 while the Brewers dropped to 26-16 on the season. Corbin Burnes will face Blake Snell in game two of the series Tuesday night.
