GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine is set to expand dramatically today, but that doesn’t mean the supply of the vaccine has.
Bellin Health Chief Operating Officer Sharla Baenen says we may not see many teachers getting the vaccine until mid-March.
“The allocation [of vaccine] for education will probably come to us in mid-March,” Baenen told WTAQ. “That will be, I think, when we will really start to see education get vaccinated at a higher level.”
Vaccine appointments for educators will largely be handled by county health officials. Baenen says educators can reasonably expect to get vaccinated in March or April.
“There is a time where there is going to be enough vaccine, and everyone will be able to get vaccinated,” said Baenen. “It’s just about having that patience, which is just so hard to do after this long year.”
Those other than teachers and those over the age of 65 may find themselves waiting until April to get their shot.
