TOWN OF PITTSFIELD, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man from Oneida was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated following a crash Thursday night.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says the crash took place just before 10:30 p.m. on Hwy. 29 eastbound in the area of Old 29 near Pulaski. Investigation revealed the vehicle was speeding when the driver lost control and it rolled over several times into a field.
When officers arrived, the driver had been thrown from the vehicle. He was not responsive, and was airlifted to the hospital. He is, however, expected to survive.
The passenger was still in the vehicle. He had minor injuries. Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a seat belt.
Investigators saw drug paraphernalia and suspected that the driver was under the influence. Because of his injuries, he could not undergo a field sobriety test. Investigators are recommending the driver, identified as 31-year-old Darrin Kay Hill, be charged with fourth-offense operating while intoxicated. No formal charges have been filed yet. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, and expects to issue citations as well.
The passenger, a 28-year-old man from Oneida, was arrested on an unrelated warrant.
