MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The number of COVID-19 related deaths rose by 11 on Saturday in Wisconsin and 539 new cases were reported.
The 539 new positive results is up from Friday’s 520 newly reported cases as 9,094 test results were gathered Saturday, 33 less than Friday.
The 539 new cases accounts for 5.9% of Saturday’s gathered results, a slight uptick from Friday’s 5.7%
The 11 deaths comes after no new deaths were reported the previous day, and is the most reported in a day since Saturday, June 20, had 14 new COVID-19 deaths.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Wisconsin DHS has reported a total of 515,723 negative results, 27,286 positive results, and a total of 777 deaths.
As of Saturday, the DHS is also reporting that 21,606 COVID-19 patients have since recovered and that there are 4,899 active cases of the new virus.
There is 249 total COVID-19 patients receiving hospital care with 93 of those receiving intensive care, two less patients than what was reported by the DHS on Friday.
Of the 11,402 total hospital beds statewide, 2,499 of those are immediately available.
The state has a supply of 1,255 ventilators and 312 are in use.
The city of Appleton has reported that five residents have tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
Appleton officials say that all the residents are from the Outagamie County portion of the city and will all be required to do daily symptom and temperature checks as they are held in a 14-day quarantine.
78 Appleton residents are currently in isolation due to the new virus, according to city officials.
