(WNFL) – The prep football season is rolling along as we head into Week 6 of the season.
Our games of the week preview starts with contest between the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams.
Little Chute at Freedom: The Mustangs come in ranked No. 2 in Division 4 with a 5-0 record.
Little Chute is led by Reece Joten who has rushed for 507 yards on 65 carries. He has scored 6 touchdowns. Charlie VandenHeuvel has rushed for 294 yards while Jaden Hermsen has 267 yards and Tyler Hietpas 246 yards.
Through the air, Hermsen has completed just 6-of-16 passes for 68 yards with Verhagen catching 4 of them for 61 yards.
Little Chute runs the ball, rushing 206 times this season for 1,720 yards and an average of 8.4 yards per carry.
Reece Joten has a team-high 39 tackles.
Little Chute has allowed 43 points in its 5 games while scoring 215 points.
Freedom has a much more balanced attack with 1,004 yards passing and 989 yards rushing.
Axzil Eggert has done the bulk of the running for Freedom with 752 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns on 71 carries. That’s an average of 10.6 yards per carry.
Owen Henkel is having a fine year at quarterback with 64 completions in 107 attempts for 930 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has thrown just 1 interception.
Henkel’s leading receivers are Charlie Micke who has 20 catches for 296 yards and Aidan Aerts who has 20 catches for 350 yards.
Henry VanASsten and Cody Scheibe are Freedom’s leading tacklers with 27 and 20, respectively.
In it’s 5 games, Freedom has scored 261 points while allowing 35.
Both teams are 3-0 in the North Eastern Conference.
Pulaski at West De Pere: The Red Raiders are 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Fox River Classic Conference while West De Pere is a perfect 5-0.
Pulaski is led by Anthony Ficarri who has rushed for 630 yards and 16 touchdowns on 99 carries.
Quarterback Bohdan Schmidt has 507 rushing yards and has completed 19-of-38 passes for 190 yards in Pulaski’s run-the-ball oriented offense.
Andrew Burnett is the leading receiver with 6 catches for 105 yards.
Bryce Vanlannen leads Pulaski on defense with 35 tackles.
Pulaski has outscored its opponents 169-96.
West De Pere is led by Andrew Greisen who has completed 95-of-148 passes for 1,146 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Kainan Strong had 359 yards rushing on 32 carries while Cooper Schabo has rushed for 364 yards on 56 carries.
Colton Neuens is the leading receiver with 28 catches for 298 yards. Parker Diedrich has 20 catches for 267 yards while DEarian Acevedo-Ortiz has 19 catches for 208 yards.
Braylon Stegall has to be accounted for. He leads the Phantoms with 38 tackles including 10 for loss.
West De Pere has outscored its opponents 192-39 with 20 of those points given up in the season opener against Sun Prairie East. The Phantoms have shut out their last 2 opponents (Appleton West and Ashwaubenon).
Appleton North at Neenah: Appleton North is 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the Fox Valley Association and moved into sole possession of first with a 14-0 win over Kaukauna last Friday while Neenah which beat Oshkosh West 39-0 is 2-1 in conference play and 2-3 overall.
The Lightning does nothing fancy offensively. Brock Struensee leads the team in rushing with 441 yards on 121 carries.
Owen Rein has completed 24-of-54 passes for 340 yards with Brody Olp the leading receiver with 9 catches for 138 yards.
Jake Gaskill has been a beast defensively with 42 tackles.
Appleton North which averages 3.2 yards per carry has scored just 79 points in 5 games while allowing 72 with West De Pere scoring 35 of them.
Neenah, on the other hand, has a more potent offense, scoring 160 points including 53 in that wild season opener against Notre Dame.
Ashton VanBeek is a dual threat at quarterback for the Rockets, completing 49-of-88 passes for 649 yards while rushing for 369 yards.
Cooper Sieck is Neenah’s leading running back with 382 yards rushing on 60 carries. He also has 80 receiving yards.
Matthias Charles is Van Beek’s favorite target with 22 catches for 276 yards. Dylan Foat has caught 15 passes for 171 yards.
Connor Stuckel leads the defense with 36 tackles. Owen Fox is next in line with 35 tackles.
