(WTAQ-WLUK) — The emergency landing of a plane carrying Republican Wisconsin governor candidate Tom Tiffany was the result of pilot error, according to a federal report.
The plane made an emergency landing in Lake Wausau on Sept. 13. Neither Tiffany nor the pilot was hurt.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board report, there was an issue with the fuel tank on the Beech K35.
“In a postaccident interview with a FAA inspector, the pilot’s aviation mechanic stated that he and the pilot discussed the accident, during which the pilot said the loss of engine power was due to his delay in switching fuel tanks and not turning on the electric fuel boost pump,” the report states.
