(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) FAIRBORN, OHIO – The Green Bay volleyball team fell to the Wright State Raiders in three close sets (24-26, 24-26, 22-25) Friday on the road at CJ McLin Gymnasium. The loss snapped Green Bay’s nine-match win streak. GB is now 11-5 overall and 4-1 in Horizon League play.
Kelsey Justman finished with 13 kills to lead the Phoenix offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .370. Defensively, the Phoenix had two players reach double figures in digs as Macy Kline had 18 and Kennedy Schmitz had 13. Alexa Hernandez finished with 33 assists on the night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The first set went back and forth the entire way, with 10 ties and three lead changes. The two teams found themselves tied at 23, when the Raiders took three out of the final four points to take the set 26-24.
SET 2 | Green Bay lost the second set 26-24, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. Green Bay was close to tying the match at one set apiece, building up a 24-22 lead. The Raiders once again turned it on late, rattling off four straight points to take the 2-0 lead.
SET 3 | The third set was perhaps the closest throughout the entire set, featuring six lead changes and 14 ties. Green Bay grabbed a 21-20 lead before Wright State battled back and went on a 5-1 run to complete the sweep.
