In the new D3football.com poll released on Monday, 4 WIAC teams are ranked in the top 25.
UW-Platteville is ranked fourth with UW-River Falls checking in at sixth.
UW-Whitewater and UW-La Crosse are just outside the top ten, checking in at No. 11 and 12, respectively.
North Central (Ill.) and Wheaton College (Ill.) are ranked first and second, respectively.
This Saturday, in a matchup of ranked teams, River Falls is at 21st-ranked Coe College. UW-Platteville hosts Dubuque, Whitewater hosts St. Xavier (Ill.) and La Crosse welcomes Hardin-Simmons (Texas).
Badaro gets Big Ten honors: Anna Bardaro of the Wisconsin volleyball team has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for her performances last week, announced by the Big Ten Monday afternoon.
The Montebelluna, Italy native recorded back-to-back double-digit dig performances in Wisconsin’s victories over No. 17 Florida and Auburn during the inaugural Big Ten/SEC Challenge. Bardaro tied a career-best 19 digs in the five set thriller over the Gators. She’d last recorded 19 digs against Stanford on August 28.
The 5-foot-10 libero followed-up the 19-dig performance with 17 digs the next night in a 3-0 sweep over Auburn. She also tallied her first-career kill against the Tigers. Bardaro’s defensive efforts helped the Badgers limit the Auburn offense to a .196 hitting efficiency.
Bardaro averaged 4.50 digs per set and added five assists in eight sets.
Wisconsin will hit the road to the Lone Star State this week with matches against the defending National Champions, No. 19 Texas A&M Friday, followed by a re-match of last season’s NCAA Regional Finals matchup against No. 9 Texas.
Green Bay women’s golf takes 10th at Central Michigan tournament: The Green Bay women’s golf team finished their first invitational of the 2026-27 season on Monday, coming in 10th at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational hosted by Central Michigan at A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort. Central Michigan won the event as a team, finishing +4 through three rounds at Kewadin, Mich.
“I’m super happy with our first event of the season, with only being on campus for a week,” said Green Bay golf coach Lee Reinke. “I’m very happy and excited for Avery Johnson, who shot one under par in round two, which is a Green Bay career-low. Also, Jordan Shipshack, who shot one under in round three, had a GB career-low. Then Riley Pechinksi finished round three at three under, 69, which is also a career-low.”
Reinke continued, “As a team in round three, we tied for the lowest round of the day at three over par, which was pretty exciting. So, this weekend is a great, great building block to build on as we leave Saturday for Ball State.”
On the weekend, the Phoenix was led by Jordan Shipshock, whose GB career-low in round three (71, -1) put her at +8 across the three rounds for a T19 finish. Avary Johnson wasn’t far behind at T27 with a +11 on the weekend, and Pechinski rounded out the top three for GB with +13. As mentioned earlier, Pechinski shot a 69 (-3) in round three, including an eagle on 16.
Green Bay will be right back in action next weekend at Ball State, competing at The Players Club at Woodland Trails on Sept. 14-15.
Marquette’s Cervantes takes third: The Marquette University men’s golf team finished seventh at the Island Resort Intercollegiate on Monday, posting a 54-hole total of 2-under-par 850 (291-276-295) at Sage Run Golf Club at Bark River, Michigan.
The Golden Eagles were led by junior Vincent Cervantes, who tied for third place individually at 11-under-par 205. The 11-under tied the program’s sixth-lowest score versus par.
Cervantes followed an opening-round 68 with a tournament-best 7-under-par 65 in the second round before closing with an even-par 72. It marks his second top-10 finish in as many tournaments this season.
Marquette made its move during the second round, carding a 12-under-par 276, the third-lowest team round in the field during the tournament. The Golden Eagles entered the final round near the top of the leaderboard before finishing seventh in the 12-team field.
Mason Schmidtke recorded Marquette’s second-best finish, tying for 34th at 2-over-par 218 after rounds of 74-70-74. Ryan Banas tied for 45th at 4-over-par 220, while Wyatt Chapman finished tied for 53rd at 5-over-par 221. Holden Orofino rounded out the lineup in a tie for 69th at 10-over-par 226.
Competing as an individual, Regan Konen tied for 38th at 3-over-par 219 following rounds of 75-70-74.

Marquette player honored: Luanna Markus, a freshman setter on the Marquette University volleyball team, earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Markus, who earns a second-straight award from the league after Setter of the Week honors last week, averaged 10.71 assists per set across both matches for the Golden Eagles this past weekend.
