(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s soccer team remained unbeaten to open the 2026 season, cruising to a 4-1 victory over Truman State Wednesday afternoon at Valley Fields.
Jocelyn Leigh opened the scoring in the ninth minute, heading home a goal assisted by Ella McAleenan at the 8:41 mark. Olivia Hernandez doubled the Golden Eagles’ advantage less than six minutes later, scoring in the 15th minute to give Marquette a 2-0 lead.
Haley Christianson added to the advantage in the 25th minute. Callie Hefner assisted on the goal, which gave the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead which they carried into halftime.
The Golden Eagles continued their offensive pressure after the break, with Carly Christopher scoring at the 54:12 mark to push the lead to 4-0.
Truman State got on board late as they converted a penalty kick in the 81st minute, however the Golden Eagles held on for the 4-1 victory.

The Golden Eagles are back in action on Sunday, Aug. 23 as they travel to Madison, Wisconsin to take on the Badgers of the Wisconsin. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. CT.
