(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS/WNFL) – The Green Bay Phoenix men’s basketball team will host the Wisconsin Badgers in an exhibition game on Thursday, October 15 at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
It will be the first time the 2 teams have met since 2022.

Moon gets contract extension: Mark Murphy Endowed Director of Athletics Josh Moon has signed a contract extension with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay that will keep him at the University through 2031, Chancellor Michael Alexander announced on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
“Josh Moon continues to grow Phoenix Athletics,” shared Chancellor Michael Alexander. “His belief in our region, UW-Green Bay, and what can be possible here is inspiring. I am excited to see what Josh will accomplish in the next five years along with our student-athletes and coaches. We have the right person with the right relentless energy to lead us during these complicated times.”
Moon came to UW-Green Bay from Northern State University in July of 2021. Since his arrival, he has transformed and elevated the Phoenix in all areas including fundraising, academic achievement, community impact and in competition.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Chancellor Mike for his continued belief and support, and this is a reflection of the great work our amazing coaches, staff and student-athletes are doing each and every day as we continue to RISE,” said Moon. “My family and I love this University and this community. Under Moon’s leadership, UW-Green Bay has experienced impressive accomplishments during the past five years, including:
- Back-to-back Horizon League regular season championships for women’s basketball (2024-25 and 2025-26.)
- 3 straight Horizon League tournament championships and NCAA tournament appearances for women’s basketball (the first since 2018.)
- For the first time in Athletics history, all 14 teams earned a cumulative GPA over 3.25, including a record 3.66 GPA for the spring 2026 semester.

- Two of the top 20 largest single season win turnarounds in NCAA D1 men’s basketball history (2023-24 and 2025-26), including the largest one-year win turnaround in Horizon League history (2023-24.)
- Dramatic increase in special events revenue including a record $375,000 generated at the recent Packers-Phoenix Steak Fry.
- Significant increases in ticket sales, basketball attendance and sponsorships for Green Bay Athletics.
- Multiple major gifts that have helped elevate many areas within the department.
- 200% increase in annual Phoenix Fund support.
- Transformation of the Shorewood Golf Course to the multi-purpose Shorewood Park featuring one of the state’s best cross country and disc golf courses.
Moon, a Wautoma native, attended UW-La Crosse as an undergrad where he played football. He earned his master’s degree and started his career in athletic administration at Central Michigan University. Moon and his wife Andria, a Mauston native and associate professor of Education at UW-Green Bay, have two sons, Brady and Kellen.
