(ST NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College opened its 2026 football season with a 40-10 loss to Carroll University in a non-conference game at Schneider Stadium.
The Green Knights got on the board first when a drive inside the Carroll 20 stalled and Tyler Juergensen connected on a 35-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead with 1:53 left in the first quarter. Carroll answered when Anthony Martano popped a 76-yard run on third-and-1 for a 7-3 Pioneers’ lead with 56 seconds left in the first quarter.
Carroll had a pair of second-quarter field goals sandwiched around a 68-yard touchdown pass from Elisah Nieves to Marcus Johnson to take a 20-3 lead into halftime.
The Pioneers used big plays to score a pair of third-quarter touchdowns and then had a special-teams touchdown early in the fourth quarter. The Green Knights closed out the scoring on Alex Jayne’s 6-yard touchdown run with 4:14 remaining.
Carroll outgained St. Norbert 496-251 in total offense. Nadir Simmons led St. Norbert on the ground with 64 rusing yards on 15 carries, while Fernando Rodriguez scrambled 12 times for 63 yards. Jacob McVane caught four passes for 28 yards.
Nieves paced the Carroll offense, completed 15 of 29 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns.
Cory Burton led the St. Norbert defense with six tackles and two forced fumbles.
