GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An iconic Green Bay building is showing off its renovations, making it a new year-round gathering space for the community.
A ribbon cutting was held for the newly improved Bay Beach Amusement Park’s Pavilion dance hall Monday.
The improvements allow the pavilion to welcome events in every season while preserving its historic character as a family-friendly destination at Bay Beach.
The $950,000 project converted what had been a primarily summer-only building into a year-round rental facility available for weddings, corporate functions, community celebrations, and other special events. Renovations included replacing older windows with high efficiency models, adding insulation, and installing modern heating and air conditioning to improve comfort for guests throughout the year.
The dance hall can accommodate up to 300 guests with tables, chairs, a PA system, and restrooms.
With the updated pavilion now open for reservations, the city anticipates increased use by families, businesses, and community organizations.
Those events are expected to generate revenue that helps the pavilion cover its operating costs and support continued reinvestment in Bay Beach and its amenities.
Green Bay mayor Eric Genrich said, “The Bay Beach pavilion has hosted countless community events and celebrations in the past, including President Franklin Roosevelt’s visit to commemorate the tricentennial of Jean Nicolet’s landing at Red Banks. Its deserving of preservation and renovation, and I’m thankful to our Common Council for supporting this work and to the Friends of Bay Beach for all their support through the years and for their recognition of the worthiness of this project.”
Renovations to the pavilion were made possible by one-time federal relief dollars provided through from the American Rescue Plan Act.
