KEWAUNEE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A number of residents were evacuated from their Kewaunee homes after a piece of machinery slid into a hole and ruptured a gas line.
It happened before midnight Monday at Dodge and Rose street.
Residents within a two-block radius of the area were asked to either shelter in place or were evacuated to the Kewaunee High School.
About an hour later, crews were able shut the gas off and safely secure the scene. Evacuated residents were able to return to their homes.
