(WTAQ-WLUK) – A federal bankruptcy court Tuesday approved Newcap’s plan to pay its employees, according to court documents.
Newcap, which provided a variety of social services to clients, filed for bankruptcy in federal court last week. Court documents show Newcap owes money to 209 parties, totaling $4.03 million.
Newcap asked the court to allow to use some of assets to pay employees for work done until the bankruptcy filing April 15.
While a hearing was scheduled on the issue for Wednesday, the court approved the plan Tuesday, and the hearing was canceled.
“IT IS ORDERED that the Debtor is authorized to pay its employees all prepetition compensation incurred on or before April 15, 2026. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Debtor is authorized to deduct and transmit to third parties all required prepetition deductions and taxes, such as wage garnishments, child support payments, federal and state income tax withholdings, and payroll taxes,” the order states.
A meeting with the court and creditors is scheduled for May 18.
