(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – Following a one-point win over DePaul on Wednesday at the Al McGuire Center, the Marquette women’s basketball team returns to the road this weekend for its third game away from home since Jan. 21. The Golden Eagles travel to Washington D.C. to face Georgetown on Sunday afternoon.
Tipoff from McDonough Arena is set for 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT. JB Long (play-by-play), Christy Winters-Scott (analyst) and Autumn Johnson (sideline) will be on the call for truTV/HBO Max.
THE STARTING FIVE
- Sunday will mark the Golden Eagles’ fourth road trip in 18 days with three of those coming on the East Coast. Following this stretch, Marquette will finish out the final month of play with four games at home and three on the road.
- With a record of 1-4 in games decided by 10 points or less prior to Jan. 21, Marquette has won its last three games by a combined six points. The close wins have been a change of pace for Marquette as most of its wins have been by significant margins. Nine of the Golden Eagles’ first 11 wins had been by 16 or more points.
- Injured three weeks ago, Halle Vice has begun to return to to from, breaking out for 23 points at Butler last Sunday and going for 18 points and 14 rebounds against DePaul. The 20-point game was her first since going for 32 against Villanova on Jan. 4 and the double-double was her first since posting 19 points and 13 rebounds at Seton Hall on Jan. 14.
- Since eclipsing the 1,000-point mark for her career at St. John’s on Jan. 21, Jaidynn Mason has posted back-to-back games with 16 points. The senior shot a combined 13-of-20 (65.0%) in the contests.
- Marquette’s strength this season comes in its experience and continuity as the program is the only one in Division I women’s college basketball to return all of its players from the 2024-25 season. Though everyone returned, the Golden Eagles have had just two games this season (Winthrop, Georgetown) with everyone available (excluding J.J. Barnes and Aryelle Stevens who were ruled out for the year heading into the season).
