GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Stacie Girling was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison for supplying the drugs which her boyfriend fatally overdosed on.
Girling, 43, previously pleaded no contest to reckless homicide for the November 2023 death of Travis Lambert.
She was also placed on extended supervision for 15 years by Judge Samantha Wagner and ordered to pay $9,343.90 in restitution.
Before the sentence was issued, Lambert’s mother, Patti Mancheski, described the impact of losing her son. Mancheski called Girling “a terrible person.”
Lambert’s father, Roger Lambert, urged Wagner to help the police and parole officers by issuing a long sentence.
“These people that do this kind of stuff have nothing to lose. Ever. Nothing. They go to jail for a few days, a few years, and they’re back out and right back at it. And these poor gentlemen got to take care of it. And these parole officers have to face it on the street every day. We really need to work to stop it to help out our country. I’m just begging you. Keep this off the street. It will harm someone else, and I guarantee you it won’t take long,” Lambert said.
Girling apologized to Lambert’s family.
“I’m sorry that we even have to be here today. I loved Travis very much. He was a great man, and he was so good to me. It pains me that my actions that day led to his death. And that’s something I can never forgive myself for,” Girling said.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a Howard residence in November 2023 for an unconscious man who was later declared dead. Girling told police she was with the victim, her boyfriend, and woke up to notice he wasn’t breathing.
An autopsy determined Lambert’s cause of death was “toxic effects of fentanyl.”
A witness told police Girling obtained fentanyl earlier in the day. The complaint cited phone records and surveillance video of Girling arranging and conducting a drug deal. When she was arrested, she “repeatedly made statements to the effect of, “I didn’t kill him”,” the complaint states.
