TOWN OF GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One person was killed in a crash Thursday in the town of Grand Chute.
At approximately 4:25 p.m., Grand Chute’s police and fire departments responded to the intersection of W. Prospect Avenue and S. Van Dyke Road for a reported two-vehicle crash.
Officials say an SUV traveling westbound on W. Prospect Ave. veered off the roadway, striking a mailbox and a telephone pole. That caused the vehicle to roll back into the roadway, where it hit an eastbound vehicle stopped in traffic.
The SUV’s driver was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Authorities expect W. Prospect Ave. between S. Van Dyke Rd. and S. Casaloma Dr. to be closed for several hours while crews repair the damaged utility pole.
