TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ) A series of projects are coming to Neshotah Park and Beach in Two Rivers this spring.
A $209,500 matching grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will fund new accessible pathways at Neshotah Park along Pierce Street, which goes toward the beach. It will also fund two new picnic shelters, a bathroom renovation, demolition of an old tennis court, and wayfinding signage.
Pierce street will also be reconstructed.
Additionally, the city received 100 thousand grant from The West Foundation and $20 thousand from room tax funds which will go towards new playground equipment, including a climbing wall and bamboo jungle.
“We’re excited for Two Rivers and Neshotah Park to continue to be a destination,” said Two Rivers Parks and Recreation Director Mike Mathis. “There’s a lot to love about the beach and we want to make it a welcoming place, and easy to use place as well.”
Mathis estimates that tens of thousands of people visit the beach and park every summer.
The goal is to have the projects complete in time for Memorial Day.
