BRUSSELS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — After reviewing the results of a community survey, the Southern Door County School District has decided not to proceed with putting a referendum question on the spring ballot.
The Board of Education asked residents for feedback on the potential to exceed the revenue limit by $2.525 million for the 2025-26 school year and $3.5 million annually for the three subsequent years.
Results showed limited support, particularly among non-staff/non-parent respondents, with only 31% indicating Definitely Yes or Probably Yes to the proposal.
The district says in previous years, the Southern Door community has supported the District through operating referendums, including the current three-year referendum set to expire in June 2026. As a result of the expiring referendum, an operational referendum will likely be placed on the ballot for Southern Door voters in April 2026.
