NEW LONDON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — In response to safety concerns, a roundabout may be installed on Highway 45 on New London’s north side.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is planning an open house for the public to learn more about construction plans. The meeting is set for 5-6 p.m. Dec. 11 at the council chambers in the New London Municipal Building, 215 N. Shawano St.
The DOT says concerns were raised about the intersection of highways 45 and D during a meeting in 2023 regarding improvements to 45 between New London and Clintonville.
Plans call for:
- Removing all pavement and pave the roadway with 7 to 7.5 inches of new asphalt, keeping the current 12-foot lanes, 3-foot paved shoulders and 7-foot gravel shoulders.
- Removing a portion of the pavement at the New Lisbon park and ride lot in the northwest quadrant of the intersection of highways 45, 15 and T (Mill Street) and place new asphalt pavement.
- Cleaning 16 culvert pipes and make repairs to culvert inlets.
- Making spot curb and gutter repairs.
- Installing centerline rumble strips and new pavement markings.
- Replacing guardrail.
Construction is scheduled for 2026.
