DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A De Pere school is getting a $10,000 gym makeover.
Dickinson Elementary School is one of five schools in the nation to be presented with the grant from the American Heart Association and NFL Foundation.
In order to be considered for the grant, students and staff took on Finn’s Mission, a part of the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge program. The mission requires students and staff to learn the four signs of a stroke and Hands-Only CPR—critical skills that can save lives. For every 18 members of the school community who completed the mission, the school was entered into a drawing.
“Sharing the news today is really impactful because I think what’s really important is that it goes beyond the gym. I’ve had the privilege of working with Joe Prange at Dickinson Elementary school and the work that he does impacting our community and I think it’s important for his teammates to know the work he has done as well as principal Luke Herlache,” said Korren Jewitt of the American Heart Association.
The school can use the money to make gym upgrades and improvements that will keep kids healthy and moving.
