FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Fond du Lac County Board this week approved plans for the former University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Fond du Lac Campus buildings.
The campus, now known as the Fond du Lac County Campus, will be used for state and county government offices and law enforcement training. The theater will remain a performing arts and event center, while the gymnasium will become a sports complex.
The county plans to rent out or sell parts of the campus as well as the current homes to departments that will move to the campus. That is expected to bring in between $6.6 and $7.1 million. A sale of naming rights to the event center and gym is expected to bring in between $300,000 and $600,000.
The county expects to spend more than $1.2 million this year to renovate the property.
UW-Oshkosh officially closed the two-year campus last month, citing low enrollment.
The county already owned the campus property.
