GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – With the RNC in Milwaukee, Brown County Democrats are raising concerns with the Republican agenda.
Local democratic leaders holding a news conference Wednesday morning highlighting the harm they say electing Donald Trump would cause Wisconsinites if re-elected.
“I feel that Joe Biden is the best choice. He might be an old guy. He might have had some issues in the debate, but just look at the record,” said Jim Ridderbush. He is the vice president of the United Food and Commercial Workers union in Green Bay, as well as, vice president of the Greater Green Bay Labor Council.
Ridderbush joined other Joe Biden supporters at the Democratic Party of Brown County headquarters in Green Bay on Wednesday as they took aim at former President Donald Trump and his campaign for the White House.
“Republicans are descending on Milwaukee for their convention. And sadly, this is where they’re pushing their Project 2025 agenda. You probably already know this, but it will raise costs for Wisconsinites, take away our fundamental freedoms and threaten our democratic ideals,” said Amaad Rivera-Wagner, a democrat running for Wisconsin’s assembly.
From the potential harm another Trump administration would have on working people, Riddberbush said, “Trump and his MAGA allies would undermine workers and rollback protections for overtime pay, the protections that unions like mine have fought so hard for.”
To what it could mean for women and their right to choose, “Project 2025 lays out a plan to ban medication abortion, jeopardize access to contraception, create a surveillance state to track women and their doctors and punish women who get an abortion,” add Biden supporter, Adrianna Pokela.
Biden supporters say the choice couldn’t be any clearer.
According to Rivera-Wagner, “These families, our working families our friends and neighbors deserve to have a strong democracy, freedom to make choices about their bodies, jobs that pay the bills and have the right to unionize. There is Donald Trump who will move us backwards and Joe Biden who will keep moving us forward.”
The Democratic National Convention starts in just over a month, on August 19th. This year’s convention is being held in Chicago.
