TOWN OF SPRINGVALE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man suffered a serious arm injury in a rollover crash in Fond du Lac County before he was arrested for his 2nd OWI offense.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Monday, the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received numerous reports of a rollover crash on County Highway TC near County Highway M in the town of Springvale.
A witness told authorities they had observed the driver of the pickup truck running westbound along CTH TC covered in blood.
Several agencies responded to the scene and sheriff’s deputies tracked the fleeing driver, eventually locating him with a serious arm injury. The driver, a 32-year-old Brandon male, was the vehicle’s lone occupant. He was taken by ambulance to ThedaCare Hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities determined the vehicle was traveling westbound when it went into the ditch, then came back onto the highway and rolled over several times. Speed, alcohol and failure to maintain control were all factors in the crash.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, 2nd offense.
This incident happened at the same time as law enforcement was in pursuit of a U-Haul box truck occupied by two suspects wanted for an armed robbery and shooting in Omro a short time earlier. The pair was arrested in Fond du Lac.
