GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Three public schools could close in Green Bay, following the outcome of a vote by the school board Monday night.
Those schools are MacArthur, Langlade and Elmore elementary.
The board will also vote on boundary changes to numerous other schools.
The latest set of recommendations were made by the district’s boundary adjustment committee late last month.
If the board approves the closures of Elmore, Langlade and MacArthur, the district is looking to draft a referendum that would Part of that referendum would include building a new 600-student school which would replace Kennedy Elementary. Students from MacArthur would attend that new school.
Monday’s vote comes as three other elementary schools, Tank, Keller and Wequiock — effectively closed when classes wrapped up earlier this month.
The district is dealing with a budget deficit between $6 million and $11 million within two years as well as declining enrollment.
The meeting is being held at 6 p.m. at the District Office building, located at 200 S. Broadway.
