GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness month, and a cutting-edge approach to care is being offered in the Green Bay area for people living with memory loss.
Curative Connections in Green Bay offers a proactive approach to care, and has launched their new Yesteryear Village. The village is open Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Curative Connections West in Green Bay.
The Village concept simulates an environment targeted at participants’ younger years. The Village offers inviting, interactive experiences in a safe and familiar space participants can navigate freely while reflecting on reminiscence experiences in the Village.
Organizers say this type of experience fosters self-direction, encourages hands-on interactions, and encourages social interaction. Studies have shown this model to be effective in reducing anxiety, confusion and aggression which are common emotions for people living with dementia.
