GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Civic Symphony of Green Bay is once again preparing to perform at the unlikeliest of venues: the airport.
This year’s free community concert — dubbed “CSGB & GRB (Orchestra at the Aiport)” — will be held Saturday at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport. More than 1,200 people attended the inaugural airport concert last summer, and organizers hope this year’s will draw an even larger audience.
Along with the concert, there will also be other family-friendly activities such as a musical instrument petting zoo, face painting, kids crafts, aircraft displays and a raffle.
“We want to have our community together,” explained Seongkyung Graham, conductor of the Civic Symphony of Green Bay. “We want to take advantage of getting together with as many people as possible in the community.”
Admission is free, with donations appreciated. Doors open at noon and the concert starts at 1:30 p.m. The Civic Symphony will be joined by a number of special guest vocalists. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Food can be purchased on-site.
Among the 18 songs the Civic Symphony is set to perform are “Sweet Caroline”; “Come Fly With Me”; “America the Beautiful”; and “The Stars and Stripes Forever”.
Parking is available off-site at the Oneida Bingo & Casino lot at 2170 Airport Drive and a shuttle service will be offered.
“I am super excited. I mean, I can’t wait. It’s gonna be just an awesome concert,” Graham said.
