Sturgeon spawning 2008, Singler Farms, New London4/21/08
(WTAQ-WLUK) — Sturgeon spawning activity continues in Northeast Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says spawning continues on the Peshtigo River and at the Shawano Dam on the Wolf River Thursday.
And at the De Pere Dam on the lower Fox River, a few sturgeon have been seen cruising the shallows, but spawning has yet to start. The cooler weather forecasted for later this week may delay the spawn, wildlife officials say.
Meanwhile spawning activity has stopped at the Princeton Dam, Wolf River Sturgeon Trail in New London and Bamboo Bend in Shiocton.
Sturgeon patterns can change rapidly. Though they may be at one location in the morning, they may not be that evening. So if you want to see spawning at a specific location, make sure you get out and see them soon.
