Baseball games are won and lost in a fascinating variety of ways and the Milwaukee Brewers found one Wednesday afternoon at American Family Field in beating the San Diego Padres 1-0 to snap a three game losing streak. The Brewers were on their way to being embarrassed by San Diego’s starter Michael King, failing to reach safely through the first six innings while striking out 10 times. The no hitter was broken up by Willy Adames with a single in the bottom of the 7th inning. On the flip side, Brewer manager Pat Murphy had to lean on his bullpen against a San Diego offense that scored 13 runs in their first two victories of the series. Bryse Wilson started and lasted three and two thirds innings giving up two hits. Bryan Hudson and Elvis Peguero got Milwaukee through the 7th inning giving up two hits and keep the game scoreless. After retiring two batters in the top of the 8th, Abner Uribe was touched by a ringing triple off the bat of Jackson Merrill. Uribe then made a fantastic defensive play when Tyler Wade’s tapper on the third base side of the mound was gloved by the young pitcher who delivered a strike to first just in time. In the bottom of the 8th, Brice Turang got Milwaukee’s second hit and then used his legs from there. He stole second, his major league leading 9th stolen base of the season and with two outs, raced home on a Blake Perkins single to left. Joel Payamps pitched a 1-2-3 ninth and the Brewers got a huge win. Now 11-6 on the year, the Brewers will get a day off before hitting the road for another week with stops against division rivals St. Louis and Pittsburgh. LIfeless for seven innings, the Brewers found life in the final two to snap their first losing streak of the year and win a game with three hits and a single run.
