OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A public hearing is scheduled allowing residents in the Greater Oshkosh area to provide input on proposed changes to a public transportation service.
GO Transit is encouraging individuals to express their thoughts on potential fare increases, route changes and policy amendments. The hearing will take place March 12 at 4 p.m. in room 406 at the Oshkosh City Hall Building, located at 215 Church Ave, at the monthly Transportation Committee meeting.
“At GO Transit, hearing from the voices of our community is not just a courtesy, it’s a necessity. They are the lifeblood of our transportation system,” said Steve Tomasik, transit operation manager at GO Transit. “Their experiences and insights are the compass that guides our changes, improvements and innovations. We invite residents to share their thoughts on all these proposed upcoming changes.”
If the proposed changes are adopted, beginning in August, routes could be modified and fares would increase 50 cents to a total of $2 per one-way trip. GO Transit would also replace punch cards with new day passes costing $4 per day. Additionally, social service agency fares would change from tokens to paper vouches. One-way transfers would stay free of cost.
Residents who cannot attend the public hearing to share their thoughts are invited to send comments or questions via email to TC@Oshkoshwi.gov. Submitted input will be shared with members of the Transportation Committee and included in the public record.
GO Transit can be reached at (920) 232-5342 with additional questions. To learn more about its services, visit the GO Transit website.
