GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Many in Green Bay braved the cold today and took a plunge, all for a good cause.
Special Olympics Wisconsin is celebrating 25 years of the Polar Plunge all across the state. Today, they are in Brown County, at Perkofski Boat Launch – which is in the county fairgrounds.
The event raises funds for Special Olympic athletes across Wisconsin, with a goal of raising $1 million dollars.
And despite the cold conditions, people keep coming back year after year
President and CEO of Special Olympics Wisconsin Chad Hershnar said “This is our 25th year of plunging in the state. So many people have come back time and time again, I’ve talked to people today they’re like this is my thirteenth year, this is my ninth year, a lot of first timers too, so it’s great to have the variety.”
In order to jump, plungers’ had to raise at least $100.
