FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man accused of setting a series of fires in Fond du Lac County pleaded not guilty Tuesday.
No trial date was set for Daniel Enright, 40, on five counts of intentionally setting fire to another’s land, and two counts of arson. He returns to court Nov. 7 for a status conference, court records show.
The charges stem from fires between March 2020 and April 2022.
According to the criminal complaint, Enright admitted lighting the fires.
“He lit fires to relieve stress and some of his stress started with the birth of his child three years ago,” prosecutors say in the document.
The fires were lit in marshy and grassy areas.
The complaint does not say what led investigators to Enright.
If convicted on all counts in both counties, Enright faces up to 37.5 years in prison.
