MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – As the beginning of archery and crossbow season in Wisconsin approaches, the city of Manitowoc is helping its hunters stay informed.
Two one-hour meetings will be held on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 12:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the lower-level meeting room at the Manitowoc Police Department.
These meetings will discuss topics including the purpose of the hunt, types of permissions needed to bow hunt in the city, and rules in place to ensure a safe hunt.
Bowhunting and landowner applications can be acquired and submitted on the city of Manitowoc website under the Police Department tab, as well as at the front counter of the police department.
These applications must be returned to the Manitowoc Police Department by Sept. 8 in order to be processed by the start of the season. Applications received after this date may face delayed approval.
Manitowoc allows hunting to help control the area’s population of deer, which officials say pose risks to drivers.
