GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Bike Rodeo; an event part of Wello’s Yield to Your Neighbor campaign, will be held in Green Bay.
The Yield to your Neighbor campaign was formed after Wello sent out community surveys in 2019 and 2021, and responses signaled a need for improved bike/pedestrian safety education.
The free event is aimed at providing children with the necessary skills and education to safely bike in the community.
“They’ll be learning things like hand signals, which have changed over time,” said Mario Gonzalez with Wello. “If you are riding in a street, always be in the bike lanes. If there are no bike lanes, we teach them that you drive with traffic.”
There will be free helmets and free meals while supplies last. The Green Bay Police Department will also be doing free bike registrations (you must have your bike present to do so).
Bikes will be provided for hands-on bike instruction, but children are encouraged to bring their own.
Bike Rodeo is happening on Wednesday, August 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Joannes Park. No registration is needed.
