The Milwaukee Bucks’ new Head Coach Adrian Griffin has named Sidney Dobner an assistant coach, making her the first, full-time female assistant in franchise history. Dobner has been with the organization for the past five years, serving most recently as the team’s video coordinator. Griffin has also retained Vin Baker from former coach Mike Budenholzer’s staff. Griffin earlier this spring tabbed former Bucks Head Coach Terry Stotts, who led the Portland Trailblazers for nine seasons, to be his lead assistant.
Brook Lopez on Wednesday was named the recipient of the NBA’s Bob Lanier Community Assist Award. It’s given to a player in recognition of outstanding community service. Brook’s “Blocks for Books” campaign was a big hit last season. Lopez rejected plenty of shots during the season in which he finished runner-up in the Defensive Player of the Year race. The effort resulted in $235,000.00 being raised to re-stock Milwaukee area schools and libraries with books.
