COMBINED LOCKS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – After pounding the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers playoff picture has become a lot more simple and clear; beat Detroit this coming Sunday at Lambeau Field and they’re in.
The Packers had a less than 5% chance to make the playoffs during the last week of November.
After four straight wins, that number has risen to 62%, and with another victory this Sunday, it jumps to 100%.
“A lot of buying a lot of selling,” said John Schmidt, owner of Schmitty’s Tickets. “It’s kind of fun, like a playoff game.”
Schmidt says the phones have been ringing non stop.
“We had 42 listings before the game started and a half hour after the game, we were down to one listing since everyone was just buying everything we had,” said Schmidt.
According to Schmidt, ticket prices for the Lions game started at $60 Sunday morning. By Monday afternoon, tickets were starting at $140.
“I think they’ll go down as the game gets closer, they usually do,” said Schmidt.
Packers fan Austin Sherrill hopes Schmidt is right.
“I buy a lot of single day tickets and basically I just monitor the prices throughout the week and if they’re low enough I will pull the trigger and just get some tickets.”
But, he adds he’s willing to pay a little extra to go to Sunday’s game.
“Do or die, win or go home game, absolutely,” said Sherrill.
That’s not the case for Lions fan Brendan Grabowski.
“I’ve had the tickets since the beginning of the year and we get them from one of my family friend’s who have season tickets,” said Grabowski.
He says being a Detroit fan all his life, he’s not anticipating a good ending.
“I’m expecting Aaron Rodgers to ruin my life again,” said Grabowski.
But, adds it’ll be a good fight.
“It feels like it’s not the same old Lions anymore, their offense is top five in the league,” said Grabowski. “I think the Lions can keep up, but the Packers are really hot right now, and they’re getting hot at the right time.”
Kickoff for Sunday night’s game is set for 7:20.
