BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Many area bars are planning to open around sunrise this Sunday to give fans a chance to watch the Green Bay Packers take on the New York Giants across the pond.
The two teams are set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. in London … which is 8:30 a.m. in Wisconsin.
Some bars are opening their doors to fans as early as 7 a.m.
Chicago Street Pub and Grill in De Pere is normally empty in the morning.
Three weeks ago, owner Greg DeCleene’s wife came up with an idea to open at 8 a.m. for the London game.
“She said, ‘Why don’t we do a sign up and see if we can get 40 people to sign up? If we do, let’s open.’
The sign up sheet has been out for 12 days, and they reached their goal Sunday during the Patriots vs. Packers game.
“We’ll have our happy hour going, bloody mary bar set up and some food at halftime for the people that are here,” says DeCleene.
Chicago Street normally serves free pizza at halftime, so Sunday, they will be serving breakfast pizza.
“We got a few recipes we are going to give a shot,” says DeCleene.
Stadium View on Holmgren Way will be opening at 7 a.m. and also plans to introduce some breakfast items to their menu.
“We are going to do a breakfast sandwich. We are going to be doing some pancake tacos and a scrambler bowl and a couple other things like that,” says Owner Amanda Watson.
Watson tells FOX 11 they received many calls asking them to open.
“We are going to open all service areas, have as many places for everyone to enjoy everything. We have over 60 TVs here, and it sounds like everyone is ready to party at 7 a.m..”
DeCleene says they’ve never opened this early for a game, but he thinks it will increase business.
“There’s about five or six more hours of sales.”
The Bar will also be opening their doors at 7 a.m., with their kitchen opening at 8 a.m.
Anduzzi’s across the street will be opening at 8 a.m., with their kitchen opening at 9 a.m.
