GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Green Bay Packers home opener against the Chicago Bears is just a day away, but there are multiple other events happening this weekend.
It has businesses looking forward to seeing visitors from all over the country.
Country music star Luke Combs is in town. He had a sold show Friday night at the Resch Center. Another is expected tonight.
Tonight, there’s also a free Train concert outside Lambeau.
Of course, the main event, is the Packers vs. Bears on Sunday.
Stadium View Manager Kelly Hewitt sums up perfectly what this weekend will be like.
“Absolute chaos, which we love.”
In business for 30 years, the bar near Lambeau Field has seen large crowds before.
But events this weekend have led to a different set up.
“We’ve got a full gameday set up both days, Saturday and Sunday,” said Hewitt. “So, it’s gonna be like a home Packer game both Saturday and Sunday, and we’re prepared as much as we can be.”
She says they’re doing alright with staffing, but you never know what can happen on any given day.
Still, they’ll be able to host the large crowds.
“I don’t even know the amount of bouncers we have outside, but we have our security, our set up, the bars,” Hewitt went on. “We have to bring in more staff just for Packer games, coordinating with the stage and the band.”
Financially, she expects this weekend will outpace a typical Packer home game. Northeast Wisconsin typically sees $15 million in economic impact for each Packers home game.
“The Bears are our biggest rival and our oldest rival,” said Hewitt. “They travel very well, plus we got Luke Combs, people coming all over for that.”
