GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — There will be a new school year starting before you know it.
Families with students within the Howard Suamico School District had the chance to pick up some much-needed school supplies at the Giving Tree in Green Bay.
Students were able to pick out their own backpack and pick up the essentials, such as pencils, notebooks and markers.
There is also a monthly food pantry throughout the school year for those families.
One of the organizers shared what makes this event special.
“My favorite part is the volunteers,” said Kourtney Feldhausen, Student and Family Engagement Coordinator. “It brings together a lot of staff from Howard Suamico School District and a lot of people in our community. And, so, it’s just a great time for so many people to be able to give back to see a lot of this news that we’ve had before. So many people coming together is really a special thing.”
Feldhausen says planning for the event starts before school ends the previous year.
